Due to my reviews on beauty products, I may come across as a bit girly.
I am not, even in the slightest!
Which brings me onto why the 2012 Red Bull advert inspires me so much.
I am quite an Adrenaline junkie, I love sports such as skateboarding, snow-boarding/skiing, surfing (there is a bit of an 'S' scheme going on here...) water skiing and free-running. All these high active sports appeal to me as they are something that involves intense dedication and concentration, no matter how hard you try there will always be something new to learn, such as tricks or knowledge. For me it is also the fact that I cannot do several of these sports everyday, which gives me anticipation and the mind to say "Right I might not get the chance to do this in a while, so make the most of it!"
and I will perform my best.
I know this may also occur with other sports but these are my opinions.
I've been learning how to skateboard for three years now and confidently been skating
for over a year as well as having a boyfriend and (best)friends who are
addicted to it and bloody-well brilliant.
When I first saw the Red Bull advert, I was gob-smacked.
I was so inspired!
It was around a period of my life where I had been under going hospital treatment (this isn't a "cry me a river" story) and I was unable to do much in the terms of being active.
I'd missed a lot of school, was unable to see my friends and was just slowly giving up.
To make matters worse (in my mind), I was at the peak of skateboarding just before being admitted to hospital. I had been working really hard and felt like I was finally learning more and more and getting better and better but obviously it is a caution to skateboard after having surgery.
This put me in the dullest moods, I was depressed and thinking of worst case scenarios in my mind. All I could do is sit and home. Now some teenagers would absolutly love that, miss school, have the excuse to do nothing! Well not me.
I like to get fresh air, and see people and obviously continue skating.
Seeing this advert made me realize how brilliant life can be.
I don't think I was doing myself any favors. I wasn't feeling any better because I was telling myself "I don't feel well, I feel useless, I'm in so much pain" where as I feel now, that I would have made a much faster recovery if I was to tell myself "I'm going to get up today and try and do more, I think I'm starting to feel better" as mental mortality has been proven effects on how you feel.
What I find amazing about the advert is that it has variety on the activities (not just sports) and that it contains different races, genders and age which all leads to the same
approaches to what they are doing.
To me, this gives me the insight that there are people around the world with the same
passion as you and that there is always hope- no matter who you are.
(I can see this post getting more cheesey, I do apologize haha).
Two certain clips in the advert show dancers on the street and then the scene jumps straight to the same person/group dancing in front of massive audience (vise versa).
The end quote is
" You can dream about it, or you can go out and make it happen"
Now there is no point denying it, we've all had those dreams where we have actually achieved our dreams. Some may be a rock star, some a world class dance act and for me, my most recent one was being a pro skater.
This quote has so many levels and can be taken for what you think it means, either going out and giving it your all straight away or starting off with baby steps but you can sit home and be like "*Sigh* I wish I was an even better skater than Ryan Sheckler" (message to me of the past).
Of course you can sit home and research what you are interested in though. I learn
best through watching tutorials and learning definitions as it expands my knowledge and experience on it.
The advert also uses one of my favorite songs 'M83- Outro' which is a bonus!

I hope this blog post has inspired you a bit and if it hasn't then I highly recommend you watch the advert (link below). This isn't me trying to shove idea's down your throat saying "DO THIS! DO THAT!". It's just something that makes me happy and gives me that little push which it may with you.
So you can dream about it, or you can go out and make it happen!
